Where are we?

Stockton-On-Tees is located within Tees Valley, an exciting and vibrant place to live, work and visit, with a growing population of in excess of 660,000 residents.

There’s excellent transport links to the whole of the North East. Darlington is only a twenty minute drive from The Globe and is on the East Coast mainline, with a rail journey to London around two and half hours. Local connections between Darlington and Thornaby (which is a ten minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride) run 3 times an hour.

Newcastle Airport is just 40 miles north of Stockton and around a 1hr drive.

Stockton Town Centre

Stockton Town Centre and its riverside have undergone a major multi-million-pound regeneration. The vision for Stockton Town Centre is that of a modern, successful and vibrant market town with high quality public spaces and a growing retail offer that serves the needs of residents of the Borough.

Supported by thriving Universities and modern educational establishments, Stockton Town Centre and Riverside is a focal point for cultural and leisure activity through the provision of year round festivals, a growing market offer and top class leisure facilities.

High quality ‘creative and connected spaces’ reinforce the town as the North East’s ‘Capital of Street Arts’ with animated public spaces that support the town’s rich heritage in street entertainment. This includes the Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF), that’s taken place annually for over 30 years.

The High Street works completed in March 2015, make the most of the unique built heritage through the conservation and enhancement of historic buildings. Continuing to build on the asset of the River Tees and riverside area it provides a high quality setting for new businesses, recreational activities and unique opportunities for riverside development.

Momentum is building with new restaurants, pub refurbishments and the development of a new 128 bedroom Hampton by Hilton Hotel – now open for business and just a 2 minute walk to Stockton Globe.

Stockton Businesses Welcome BID

Stockton’s businesses voted to create a Business Improvement District (BID) in Stockton Town Centre in 2016. Reinforcing business confidence, the initiative driven by local business people seeks to ensure that Stockton continues to thrive both now and in the future as a centre for shops and services. The BID will allow retailers and service businesses, with the full support of the Council and Globe operator Ambassador Theatre Group to work together to drive forward all kinds of activities and events aimed at boosting trade, attracting visitors and encouraging enterprise.
